What is worth writing about#
A correction to the book#
Page number, what it says, and what you think it should say. If it holds up, it goes on the corrections list with the date and the affected printings, and you will be told either way.
A source that has changed#
If a standard was withdrawn, a publication was revised, or a link on the status page has gone dead, that is exactly the mail this project wants. Corrections to that page are made the same week.
A question the book does not answer#
Questions that come up more than once end up on the common questions page.
Please do not send client data, and please do not send us your filled-in plan.
A completed WISP is a description of exactly what your firm holds, where it lives, and how it is protected. It is a target document. Do not email one to a stranger — including this one. If you have a question about a specific section, quote the section, not your answers.
The same goes for client names, Social Security numbers, return data, and screenshots that happen to have any of the above in the corner.
What we cannot do#
We cannot tell you whether your firm is compliant, review your plan, or give legal advice about your situation. Those are not modesty disclaimers; they are the honest limits of a book and a website. Questions about how a rule applies to your specific facts belong with an attorney who practices in this area — and the one genuinely open counting question is a good example of the kind that does.
