What you may do#
Read anything here. Print it. Save it. Quote it with attribution. Send a link to a colleague. Put the deadlines table on your office wall.
The free reference pages exist to be used, including by people who never buy the book. If you are a professional association, a state society, or a fellow practitioner who wants to point members at them, you do not need permission to link.
What you may not do#
- Republish substantial portions of this site as your own work, or under your own byline.
- Reproduce, scan, resell, or redistribute the book or its appendices, in whole or in substantial part, without permission.
- Present material from this site as legal advice, certification, or evidence of anyone's compliance.
- Scrape, mirror, or automatically harvest the site in a manner that burdens the server.
- Use the site or the book's name to imply endorsement, affiliation, or approval by the FTC, the IRS, NIST, or any government body. There is none, and none is claimed.
Government sources are not ours#
Much of what this site quotes — statutes, the Code of Federal Regulations, IRS publications, NIST special publications, and state statutes — consists of United States government or state works that are in the public domain. Nothing in these terms restricts your use of those underlying sources, and you are encouraged to go read them.
What is protected is the original writing: the explanations, the arrangement, the commentary, the readiness check, and the text of the book.
No warranty#
This site is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be available without interruption, that it is free of errors, or that its content is current at any given moment. See the disclaimer, which is part of these terms.
The status page#
The address thewispbook.com/current is printed in the book, and we intend to keep that page available and dated for the life of the print run. That is a commitment we have made in print, and we take it seriously. It is not, however, a contractual guarantee of uninterrupted availability, and it does not make the page a substitute for checking the primary sources yourself.
Limitation of liability#
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site or the book — including regulatory penalties, lost business, or loss of data.

Links to government and third-party sites are provided so you can verify what we say. We do not control those sites, are not responsible for their content, and their inclusion is not an endorsement.
